It's a big era for Nick Jonas in terms of acting projects: in spring 2025, he'll take the stage in the Broadway production of The Last Five Years, but sooner than that you can see him in the new film The Good Half — and in an exclusive clip that shows his rapport with costar Elisabeth Shue, who plays his character's late mother.

The movie follows Renn (Jonas) a young man returning home to bury his mom (Shue) and dealing with all the conflicting emotions of grief — and a new potential love interest. The scene shared below is “a comforting yet heart-wrenching flashback,” Jonas tells Teen Vogue. In it, he and Shue banter back and forth about stolen espresso spoons, and it's clear the love and rapport their characters have for each other.

“I love this clip since it shows the lighthearted side of The Good Half," Jonas adds. "Elisabeth Shue was amazing to work with and I feel like you can really see how we were able to channel the emotions of our mother-son relationship while still having fun … While the film is ultimately about grief and loss, Director Robert Schwartzman and Writer Brett Ryland balanced those hard to digest themes with beautiful comedic moments like this one which not only ground the film in reality, but touch upon the complexities of loss.”

It's a bit of a reunion for Jonas and Schwartzman, who is the frontman of the band Rooney. The pair have been friends for years and even performed together when the Jonas Brothers brought Rooney as openers on the When You Look Me In The Eyes tour in the late 2000s.
