President Obama’s eldest daughter had an extra-special present on her 18th birthday: a round of “Happy Birthday” sung by her dad, with support from Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe.
Malia Ann Obama shares her birthday with another big day – the Fourth of July. Each year, the POTUS hosts a barbecue on Independence Day to celebrate members of the armed services and their loved ones, and for his final BBQ as president, Obama spread some cheer to his own family.

On Monday, Obama invited Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe to perform for White House guests and the pair joined in for an impromptu song for the birthday girl.
After all, it’s the job of a father to embarrass his daughter, Obama quipped.

Earlier, Monáe reportedly performed “Dance Apocalyptic”, “Q.U.E.E.N.”, “Electric Lady” and a cover of Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” while Lamar went light on the curse words when he delivered“Swimming Pools (Drank)”, “Money Trees”, “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe”, “Poetic Justice”, “A.D.H.D.”, and “Alright”.
Obama also gave high praise to the musicians. “These two I’ve gotten a chance to know and they’re both amazing artists and talented and popular and doing great things,” he said. “But they’re also very conscious of their responsibilities and obligations. They put in a lot of time and effort on behalf of a lot of causes that are important. We’re really proud of them for that.”
