Watch Sarah Paulson and Mark Duplass Celebrate Their Anniversary in a Clip From 'Blue Jay' (Exclusive)
On paper, Sarah Paulson and Mark Duplass just seem like a great couple. She’s the long-admired actress who just notched the best reviews of her career (and an Emmy win to boot) for her phenomenal work as prosecutor Marcia Clark on the The People v. O.J. Simpson. He’s ubiquitous indie actor-writer-director-producer who has also won fans on TV’s The League and Togetherness.
The duo lives up to that promise on screen — at least from the looks of this exclusive clip (watch above) from their new micro-budgeted black-and-white romance, Blue Jay. The scene shows Jim (Duplass) and Amanda (Paulson) celebrating their “20th anniversary” with a hilariously not-so-gourmet meal that appears consists of mac and cheese… and peppermints.
The clip’s also a bit misleading: Jim and Amanda haven’t been together these past 20 years. The former high-school sweethearts randomly run into each at the grocery store, then spend an impromptu night together catching up (and in turn, wondering “what if?”).
Directed by longtime League camera operator Alex Lehmann from a script by Duplass, Blue Jay premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is now playing in select cities.
