Watch Toby Keith's last performance at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville
During Toby Keith's career, he graced many a stage across the United States and overseas. But one of his last major performances happened at the historic Grand Ole Opry.
Keith died on Monday at age 62 after battling stomach cancer. One of his most poignant recent performances happened when he played his song “Don’t Let the Old Man In" on the Opry stage during the inaugural People's Choice Country Awards on Sept. 28, 2023.
Keith had taken an 18-month break from touring to focus on his health, after announcing a stomach cancer diagnosis in June 2022. Even after Keith underwent radiation, chemotherapy and surgery for six months, he was still able to make multiple public appearances since the announcement.
Between his appearances, Keith was also able to put together a new album, "100% Songwriter", that came out in November.
When coming into the award show, Keith remarked he was "working my way back into performing shape."
Keith's final performance was in Las Vegas in December 2023.
