Watch Wynonna Judd join Emmy Russell to sing a Loretta Lynn classic on 'American Idol'

Despite having been eliminated, Emmy Russell made a return to the American Idol stage for one more performance of "Coal Miner's Daughter" during the Season 22 finale. Only this time she was accompanied by country music legend, Wynonna Judd.

Russell — granddaughter of country music royalty, Loretta Lynn — was eliminated from the program last week during Disney week. Sunday night however, was not the first time Russell performed her grandmother's original song.

Russell also performed "Coal Miner's Daughter" back in April during the Judge’s Song Contest, in which judges selected songs for the Top 8 contestants to perform. Russell's emotional rendition of the song brought Katy Perry to tears.

“I chose this song not because Loretta Lynn is your grandma,” Perry said. “I chose this song because you are Emmy Russell, and you can do anything now as Emmy Russell.”
