Watchmen: DC's Two-Part Animated Adaptation Gets First Trailer
Zack Snyder's Watchmen is regarded by many as an authentic adaptation of Alan Moore's eponymous graphic novel. However, many have felt that the movie, as pretty as it is, may have missed some core aspects of the novel, and they might just be served better by a new adaptation. A two-part Watchmen adaptation from DC Animation arrives later this year and its first trailer shows some eerie similarities to Snyder's film.
The short teaser trailer keeps the focus on Rorschach as he gets embroiled in the mystery of the Comedian's murder. We see snippets of other moments from the graphic novel translated into animation, with glimpses of Doctor Manhattan, Nite Owl II, and Ozymandias.
The film was announced at the Annecy Festival, where DC also confirmed that the animated Creature Commandos series will premiere in December. That's not to say that the Watchmen series will be connected to the new DCU, contrary to recent DC comics.
As for where you can watch the films, the two-part Watchmen series will be release directly on physical media like DVD and Blu-ray. And what about the Watchmen live-action series on HBO? Well, series creator Damon Lindelof is busy working on DC's Green Lantern series, so these animated films are all we're getting from the Watchmen universe for now.
