The Weeknd and Daft Punk are collaborating

The Weeknd’s brand of synthy R&B is about to get a massive techno boost. Wendy Goldstein, the executive VP and head of urban A&R at Republic Records, the Weeknd’s label, recently confirmed that the “Can’t Feel My Face” crooner is in the studio with Daft Punk.

In an conversation for Billboard‘s Hitmakers Roundtable, she said, “Actually, we have a session coming up in two days … with The Weeknd and Daft Punk. I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan, and this is the first time that I’ve actually been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them.”

It’s unclear when the interview was recorded and which date “two days” is referring to, but her confirmation clarifies a somewhat cryptic photo that The Weeknd posted earlier this month of two robot figurines sitting on a stereo.

Though the robot-headed duo of Daft Punk have been relatively quiet recently, they have been behind some of the most successful dance tracks of the 2000s, most recently Pharrell’s smash “Get Lucky.” This year, The Weeknd took home two Grammys and popped up in features on two of the year’s buzziest albums: Beyoncé’s Lemonade and Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo.

The Weeknd last released an album, the smash hit Beauty Behind the Madness, in 2015, but Daft Punk haven’t released new music since their 2013 album Random Access Memories.
