Wendy Williams defends Sean Spicer's success on 'DWTS': 'It’s a competition of popularity'
It’s safe to say Wendy Williams is on team Sean Spicer...when it comes to his dancing at least.
Williams has shared her thoughts on the controversy surrounding this season of “Dancing with the Stars.” Recently, fans and judges of the show have voiced their frustration over Sean Spicer continuing to progress in the competition due to popular vote despite his low scores.
But the sassy host says, “It's a competition of popularity. Not so much about how to dance.”
Viewers sounded off on Twitter. Some fans are rooting for Spicer and applauded him for his “graceful attitude.”
I appreciate @seanspicer's graceful attitude towards the judges criticism on #dwts . You don't have to be a Trump supporter to like #SeanSpicer. To be a united country we need to see the person beyond their political views,

If this dance competition is about most improved since the first dance lesson then those voters for Sean see him as most improved. For sure he needs more lessons.

Others are convinced the show is “rigged” and only focused on high ratings.
#dwts DWTS is rigged. If #SeanSpicer goes to the finale, I'm done watching the show.

#SeanSpicer's as good a dancer as #Trump is President. The ONLY reason he's not been eliminated is for the ratings. #shame on #DWTS!#BoycottDTWS https://t.co/9VD35vBIgv

In the end Williams was clear about her pick to win the dance competition saying, “I like James Van Der Beek...he's so happy with his life. Just give it to James. He looks good.”
Fans will have to wait and see if the former press secretary, however, will take home the trophy.
