Was Wendy Williams's husband poisoning her? Anonymous tipster made that claim to police

Wendy Williams’s divorce from her husband and manager Kevin Hunter has been dramatic — and getting even more so.

In January, during her unexpected hiatus from her eponymous talk show, police performed a welfare check on Williams after getting a tip that Hunter was poisoning her, reports TMZ. According to the police report obtained by the website, the caller claimed to be someone working for Williams’s production company.

Police went to the couple’s Livingston, N.J., home, where they were met by Hunter, who they claimed was hesitant to let them inside because Williams was recovering from a health problem. They insisted due to the nature of the call and were ultimately taken to see Williams, who was in bed "with the blanket covering from neck to toe."

Police had Hunter leave the room, according to the report, though he didn’t want to. Once alone, she was asked if there was truth to the tip and she said something along the lines of, "Well, I'm very popular." The officer pressed Williams to answer and she became tearful but denied she was being poisoned.

Williams told police the injury she was recovering from was a broken shoulder. After assuring them she was OK, police left, according to the report.

It was that shoulder injury that led to Williams’s abrupt and extended hiatus from her Wendy Williams Show in December. Fans became concerned when she slurred her words on-air. She blamed the painkillers she as taking for the injury — though didn’t say how she got it in the first place.

Williams returned to the show in March, telling her viewers that her health was great and her marriage was solid. However, Hunter allegedly welcomed a baby with a massage therapist named Sharina Hudson not long after. Meanwhile, Williams revealed that she was living in a sober house to work through an unspecified addiction.

On April 11, Williams filed for divorce from Hunter — reportedly listing their separation date as six months earlier — and he subsequently left his role as an executive producer on her show. He broke his silence last week, saying he’s “not proud” of his recently actions and apologized “to my wife, my family and her amazing fans.”

There has been police activity at their home since their split was announced. Hunter apparently called cops himself last Thursday to try to get photographers cleared from outside the home, where he was packing up a moving truck. On Saturday, he returned to move more belongings out of the home, which is currently occupied by Williams and their son Kevin Jr.

Williams does not currently have a personal publicist. A show rep would not comment.
