Wendy Williams opens up about lymphedema diagnosis, new boyfriend
Wendy Williams' health struggles aren't over yet.
The media personality revealed she has been diagnosed with lymphedema, a medical condition involving swelling of her ankles.
“Lymphedema, by the way, I’ve been diagnosed,” she told her audience during "The Wendy Williams Show" Monday, according to People and Prevention. “It’s not going to kill me, but I do have a machine — and how dare you talk about the swelling of it all.”
According to Mayo Clinic, lymphedema involves a blockage in the lymphatic system causing a build-up of lymph fluid. The condition generally results in swollen arms and legs. Although there is no cure for lymphedema, the swelling and pain caused by the condition can be treated.
Williams is no stranger to health battles. In January, the host opened up about her Graves’ disease, an autoimmune condition affecting her thyroid. Because of this condition, her doctor advised her to take an extended leave from hosting. She returned to the show in March.

Williams said the upside to her lymphedema diagnosis, however, is the machine she uses to treat her condition makes for a fun party activity.
“I’ve got it under control. If [the swelling] in my feet never goes all the way down, at least I have this machine,” she said according to People. “I sit for 45 minutes a day. It’s the best party entertainer ever. Everybody [that] comes over wants to do it.”
In addition to her new diagnosis, Williams also revealed she has a new man in her life — someone she's "crazy about."
“It helps that he’s a doctor," she said. “I am not going to say one more word. You’re not going to blow this for me. But he’s been married, his kids are in their 20s. And yes, he’s black. I know you’re wondering.”
The announcement comes just a few months after Williams filed for divorce from Kevin Hunter after 21 years of marriage. The talk show host and television producer share one child, Kevin Hunter Jr., 18.
