Joan Vassos let go of a fan favorite right before hometowns on Wednesday night’s episode 5 of The Golden Bachelorette.

And fans were also treated to an unexpected view of one of the suitors in his tighty whities!

The blonde beauty, 61, had culled her contestants down to just seven on last week’s episode.

As the new show began with a flash forward, Joan was seen pulling Mark aside for a chat, to the surprise of the other guys.

Joan’s final four would be introducing her to their families, so she had big decisions to make. Read on to find out more!

Who appeared on camera in his briefs?

Viewers saw the show’s “high maintenance” dandy, Frenchman Pascal, steaming one of his elegant white shirts.

Then the camera pulled back to reveal Pascal shirtless and wearing tighty whitie briefs!

The salon owner noted that four of his pals had been eliminated the previous week and he now had the bedroom to himself.

Even after Pascal participated in a strip show last episode with fellow contestants, his revealing appearance in the mansion was sure to spark social media chatter.

Who paid Joan a visit?

Trista Rehn Sutter, the famed first The Bachelorette star, showed up to give Joan advice.

Joan was feeling down but Trista reminded the widower that her late husband John Vassos would “be happy for you.”

The senior star told cameras she didn’t want John’s memory “to fade away,” but she owed it to the contenders to ramp up her search for love.

Who got Joan’s first one-on-one date?

Keith won the honor, and flew in a helicopter with Joan to Babcock Winery in Lompoc, Calif.

The winery owners had been married 32 years, which prompted Joan to talk about her own 32-year marriage.

While drinking wine, Keith told Joan how he’d been hurt in his own marriage.

He said his wife had gone into rehab and then he’d had to protect and take care of his daughters. “We haven’t talked to her in ten or 12 years,” Keith sighed.

“You had to save your daughters,” Joan affirmed.

She told cameras Keith had showed her his depth.

Who went on Joan’s other dates?

The group date card revealed that Guy, Jordan, Jonathan, Pascal, and Chock would be going bowling with Joan.

That meant Mark would get his one-on-one date at last.

Pascal fretted at the bowling alley about having to wear a corny shirt and shoes. “Not Prada,” the designer fan sighed.

Chock monopolized Joan at the venue, putting his arm around her and asking, “Which side of the bed?”

Joan said she liked to be on the right side, and Jonathan fumed, “She’s snuggled up in the pocket of his arm.”

Guy asked Chock to let the others have their time with Joan.

Jonathan showed Joan family photos in the hopes of being in her hometown four.

“I believe I could be falling in love,” Guy told her.

Chock said to Joan, “I see a beautiful future for us.”

How did Joan’s one-on-one with Mark go?

The Golden Bachelorette drove Kelsey Anderson’s dad in a red convertible to a boat ride date.

They cuddled on the boat but didn’t speak.

Joan groaned to cameras that there was no “easy flow” with Mark.

The two played a “never have I ever” game.

They bonded over a “sense of loss,” Mark noted, as both of their spouses had passed away.

Mark told Joan his wife Denise, who died of breast cancer, had loved hummingbirds. He told Joan he had earlier seen a hummingbird in the mansion garden, which was a sign to Mark that he was supposed to be on the show.

Joan loved spending time with Mark, but said in confessional that “there still seems to be something missing.”

What did Joan tell Mark?

Back at the mansion, Mark thought they’d had a wonderful date and was expecting to receive a rose and go to hometowns.

But Joan visited and pulled him aside for a conversation.

Joan praised Mark for speaking about his late wife but then sobbed, “I just don’t know what is missing. I feel like your heart is [still] mending.”

The reality show beauty pointed out, “I didn’t see ME in our conversation.”

Joan told Mark that dating her was “too early for you.”

Mark was silent at first, but then said he was okay with her decision.

“I love you, Mark. I really do,” Joan said.

“I’m sorry,” she said and they hugged.

Joan tearfully told cameras, “It just didn’t feel like we’re in the same place yet.”

Mark told his shocked fellow contestants at the house, “I’m going to be leaving now.” Wiping tears away, he said to the other men, “I wish you all the very best of luck.”

Pascal said, “He dropped this bomb…nobody was expecting it.”

In packing his bags, Mark commented that the breakup was “humbling…unfortunately, I wasn’t what Joan was looking for.”

What happened at the rose ceremony?

Joan had four roses to give and six men left. She gave her roses to Pascal, Chock, Guy, and Jordan.
