“The West Wing” Alum Joshua Malina's Wife Melissa Merwin Files for Divorce After 28 Years
The 'Scandal' alum's wife cited irreconcilable differences in the Aug. 2 filing
Joshua Malina and his wife of close to three decades, Melissa Merwin, are going their separate ways.
On Aug. 2, Melissa Merwin filed for divorce from the actor, 58, in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Merwin did not specify the couple's date of separation, though the filing noted that they got married in 1996 and currently have no minor children. However, they share two adult children: 22-year-old Avi and 26-year-old Daisy.
Her filing also specifies that she will request spousal support from Malina.
PEOPLE has reached out to Malina for comment.

Like her ex-husband, Merwin is also involved in the entertainment business and was a costume designer on several movies in the 90s, including Bad Girls, Point of No Return and Denzel Washington's Fallen. She now is a "flowering freelancer," according to her Instagram bio.
Malina is best known for his role as Will Bailey on The West Wing, which he followed up with a starring role as U.S. Attorney General David Rosen on Scandal.
