What’s new on Disney Plus?

Christmas might be over and done with for another year but Disney still has new treats in store for us. This month's big release is Echo, the next Marvel miniseries, the first to be produced under its new "Marvel Spotlight" banner and Marvel Studios' first TV-MA-rated show.

Plus, we've still got the remaining episodes of Percy Jackson and The Olympians to look forward to, and a new documentary treat in the form of A Real Bug's Life. Narrated by Awkwafina, the series brings us up close and personal with micro-sized creatures from around the world. UK viewers have another big release to look forward to in the form of The Creator.

Best movie on Disney Plus in January: The Creator (January 17, UK only)

Gareth Edwards helmed Rogue One back in 2016, but he returned to the silver screen with The Creator, a wholly original story written by Chris Weitz and Edwards himself.

As a future war between the human race and artificial intelligence rages on, The Creator sees former special forces agent Sergeant Joshua Taylor (John David Washington) being dispatched to find and eliminate the architect of advanced AI who is known as "The Creator". He's on the trail of a mysterious weapon that supposedly has the potential to bring the war to an end... by wiping out mankind.

Best TV Show on Disney Plus in January: Echo (All episodes available from January 9/ January 10 [UK])

Marvel's anticipated new series, Echo, reunites us with Maya Lopez (Alaqau Cox). Following the events of Hawkeye, the former leader of the Tracksuit Mafia is being hunted down by forces working for Wilson Fisk; aka the Kingpin.

Echo will see the titular star returning to her hometown. There, she's forced to confront her own criminal past and attempts to reconnect with her family and her Native American roots.

Echo will also be available to stream on Hulu for a limited time only, leaving the platform on April 9.
