WHITE COLLAR Reboot (Finally!) in the Works

The arrow has finally stopped spinning on the “What should we reboot?” wheel and landed on White Collar. The USA series was a tremendously popular one, starring Matt Bomer as the devious, sleek, but damaged Neal Caffery. Of course, to keep him on the straight-and-narrow, he had his partner-in-crime, we mean, law, Tim DeKay who played Peter Burke. And now, Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay and Tiffany Thiessen have all confirmed their involvement in a White Collar reboot. Theissen plays Elizabeth Burke, Peter Burke’s wife.

The trio confirmed a White Collar reboot was in the works at Variety‘s TV Fest. Series creator Jeff Eastin noted, “We’re gonna reboot. I’m writing the script.” And DeKay, meanwhile, noted, “It’s a fantastic script and it answers all the questions that one would have if you watch the show, and it would introduce the show to those who haven’t seen it as well. Both edges of the sword are honed.”

Sadly, actor Willie Garson, who played an integral role in the series, passed away in 2021. But Dekay notes that the White Collar reboot “honors Willie, too, in a profound way. With such sensitivity and such heart.” Thiessen further shared. “I told Jeff after I finished it, I literally was so excited, but at the same time had tears in my eyes — for good reason. You captured the suspense, the thrill, the characters and the love in that reboot.”

Those who enjoy White Collar, and have hoped for a reboot, will remember the series ended in a way that left things open for more. Eastin notes he always hoped to return to the world but felt it more and more unlikely. So, “say thank you to ‘Suits’ for starting this streaming trend. They were doing great, and got people watching ‘White Collar’ now on Netflix. That’s doing really, really good. Off of that, it’s like, ‘Hey, let’s do another one.’” Thank you, Suits!

There’s no word yet on where the White Collar reboot will air, but Hulu seems like the likely suspect. Before we sign off, we really must say, we know Peter and Neal are in love. Make it a triad, you cowards! It’s 2024.
