Here’s Why Ana Matronic Isn’t in Scissor Sisters’ Comeback Tour
Scissor Sisters have announced a huge 2025 comeback tour — but fans are wondering why singer Ana Matronic isn’t in the line-up.
The New York band is set to perform a number of live dates in the UK and Ireland, celebrating the anniversary of their self-titled debut album. Jake Shears, Babydaddy, and Del Marquis will all return for the tour, but vocalist Ana Matronic won’t be involved. As a key staple of the original band, many are wondering why Scissor Sisters have decided to embark on the tour as a three-piece.
Why is Ana Matronic not in Scissor Sisters’ 2025 tour?
Scissor Sisters addressed Ana Matronic’s absence in their press release announcing the tour. According to the band’s statement, the singer “has other projects she is focusing on right now,” meaning that she won’t be able to join them.
Del Marquis said that the band had “spent a lot of time collectively thinking about what we can add to our show that isn’t a ‘replacement’ for Ana in any way.” He noted that the band wanted to “honor” her and that she’s a part of the Scissor Sisters’ “spirit.”
Lead singer Shears said that the band reappearing as a three-piece was a “fun challenge” and that they all wanted to make it an “interesting kind of different.”
The band’s tour will see them play a number of dates in May 2025, including The O2 in London, Manchester’s Co-op Live, and Dublin’s 3Arena. The band will be reuniting for the first time in over a decade, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their first album.
