Why Both Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie Have Been Missing From 'Today' All Week
Loyal Today viewers probably noticed two of its standout co-hosts, Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, have been missing from the show all week–now we finally know why.
On Friday's episode, fellow NBC personality Craig Melvin calmed any fears with his simple and straightforward explanation of his beloved co-stars' whereabouts.
"Hoda and Savannah are off to spend time with their families," Melvin, 45, shared during the regular morning broadcast on Aug. 30, per a transcription published by Hello! that same day.
Fans who follow the pair on social media may have already connected the dots as Guthrie, 52, shared a sweet video featuring her husband, Mike Feldman, and their two children on Instagram earlier this week. The Aug. 26 upload showed Guthrie's 10-year-old daughter Vale and 7-year-old son Charley hanging with their dad at an outdoor picnic table as groups played a round of cornhole behind them. Attached to the brief clip was an emoji that said, "Out of office."
"holding on to the last of summer ??," the TV personality and author gushed in the accompanying caption.
Kotb, who only recently turned 60, hasn't shared any images of her week off to her Instagram grid, but she did take a moment to shout out her assistant, Kathleen Mahoney-Ryan, on Tuesday to celebrate her birthday.
"Happy birthday @krmahoney51 !!!" the doting mom to daughters Haley and Hope cheered alongside a photo of Mahoney-Ryan posing with her family. "I love you xo."
With the long Labor Day weekend officially upon us and the first day of school nearing, here's to hoping the Today stars are able to squeeze in a few more fun summer memories with their darling families.
