Why the Chicago Cubs Are Crediting Taylor Swift for the Team's Winning Streak

The Chicago Cubs have been on a winning streak, and they claim Taylor Swift is the reason for their success.

Team manager Craig Counsell, who spoke about the good juju in a new interview with Marquee Sports Network, revealed that the Eras Tour superstar is indirectly responsible for their 16-8 record this past month.

While chatting with Taylor McGregor about the luck bestowed on the team this season by the singer and the Swifties who are a part of Cubs Nation, Counsell revealed that he was gifted a candle inspired by the "Bejeweled" songstress, admitting that the team has been lighting it in his office before each game.

"We've got in a nice little run here, so we're gonna credit Taylor Swift," he said.

While plenty of fans of the team made it clear they don't believe in superstitions such as this, several came to the defense of Counsell and the rest of the Cubs, suggesting, "It’s only crazy if it doesn’t work. This is prime baseball science."

Swifties also spoke up to clarify that the "dictionary definition for this phenomenon is called tayvodoo," a term that can best be described by example, such as when the entirety of Metlife Stadium booed the singer during a Giants game, and the team ultimately lost 3-24 to the Seahawks, or when a jet descended behind her at the same moment she sang, "I thought the plane was going down," while performing "Labyrinth" as a surprise song in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Of course, fans of Swift and her beau, Travis Kelce, are hoping this phenomenon continues with the Chiefs when the Kansas City team kicks off their season next week.
