Fans were left concerned after Normani called off her 2024 BET Awards performance at the last minute. Even though her absence from the awards night was worrisome, Normani let her fans in on the reason she missed out on such a big event and posted a photo depicting an injury.

What happened to Normani?

Normani revealed she met with an accident during rehearsals and suffered a knee injury.

The singer was a part of the star-studded lineup that was set to take place on the BET Awards stage on June 30, 2024. However, a sudden calamity caused her to skip the ceremony.

As per Teenvogue, Normani communicated the reason behind her absence to her fans by posting on Instagram, “I am more frustrated and disappointed than anyone believe me. I wanted to get on here and give you guys an update letting you know that while in rehearsals for BET, I had a really bad accident and injured myself. I am normally good for powering through under any circumstance but unfortunately due to my doctor’s orders, I am just not able to make this performance happen.”

Normani further expressed she felt devastated for missing out and wrote, “I am devastated and hate feeling like a disappointment to you but I have to focus on recovering at this time. Trust me, I hear you, and l see you. There is nothing more that I wanted to do than perform for you and also, get back to doing what fulfills me most- BEING ON STAGE. Thank you so much for understanding. Sending my love to BET for giving me and all of the other beautiful black women this opportunity.”

In another Instagram story, the singer shared a snap in which fans noticed a bandage wrapped around her knee. Normani is also seen taking the support of crutches to walk. As per Variety, the lineup which Normani was part of, included artists like Cardi B, Latto, Will Smith, Ice Spice, etc.
