Why Isn't Garth Brooks at the CMT Awards?
It's CMT Awards night, and all of country music's biggest stars are out to celebrate this year's achievements. Well, almost all of the stars. As the industry's biggest names walked the red carpet in Austin, Texas, fans were left wondering: Where is Garth Brooks?
Garth has been a mainstay in country music for decades, and, while he's not nominated this year, his wife of 18 years, fellow country star Trisha Yearwood, is receiving a major recognition tonight. She will be the first-ever recipient of the June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award, thanks to her work with Habitat for Humanity, Dottie’s Yard, Stanford Women’s Cancer Center, American Cancer Society, Humane Society, and more. Trisha will also debut "Put It in a Song" from her upcoming album. But when it came time to walk the red carpet, Garth was nowhere to be seen.
Instead, Trisha declared it a "girls night"and brought along her sister, Beth Bernard! Fans of Trisha's Southern Kitchen will recognize Beth as a frequent visitor on the cooking show. According to In Touch Weekly, Trisha said on the red carpet that Garth is likely at their new Nashville bar, Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk.
The CMT Awards shared a video of sweet moment between Beth and Trisha on the red carpet. Trisha is seen explaining how everything works to her sister, telling her to do her thing and praising the photographers for being polite.
Unless he makes a surprise appearance, it looks like Garth stayed home in Nashville! We can't wait to see what Trisha brings to the stage.
