Why Jelly Roll Claims He 'May Have Overshot' Half-Marathon Ambitions
Jelly Roll is walking back statements about his goal of running a half-marathon.
Earlier this year, the "Need a Favor" crooner said he was hoping to complete a half-marathon before the end of 2024, but now he is not so sure that he'll be running 13.1 miles anytime soon.
While recently sitting down with Taste of Country Nights On Demand with Evan Paul, Jelly Roll was asked if he was still up for the task—and he was perfectly candid in his response.
"I may have overshot," he confessed.
"I was telling someone, when I say next year I mean next Turkey Day. Like a Thanksgiving half marathon," Jelly Roll continued, before giving a progress update on his current fitness training.
"I woke up and walked two miles this morning and it was brutal," he admitted. "I was like, 'I gotta put another 11 on that, and jog?!'"
But according to the award-winning country artist, getting in shape really isn't just about the numbers for him. When asked about his weight loss goals, Jelly Roll said he didn't have anything specific in mind. Instead, he's just aiming to be overall healthier.
"I just want to feel better," he said.
The "Save Me" singer has already started to make some big strides when it comes to fitness, as he already completed a 5K race earlier this year.
After finishing the 2Bears 5k in California in May, Jelly Roll recalled being "really emotional at the finish line," over how much progress he'd made.
"I couldn't walk a mile when I started to do this back in January," he shared at the time, adding that he felt "really, really" good about running a 5K, which is 3.1 miles long.
"It was a little bit harder than I thought it was [going to be], but it's awesome, man," said.
