Jennifer Meyer credits Gwyneth Paltrow for helping her get through her divorce from Tobey Maguire

Jennifer Meyer followed in the footsteps of a famous divorcée as she dealt with her split from Tobey Maguire.

On a July 22 episode of the Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson & Olivia Allen podcast, the jewelry designer, 47, revealed how Gwyneth Paltrow helped her get through her breakup with the Spider-Man star.

“Right when Tobey and I were starting to break up, I watched what Gwyneth Paltrow was doing with Chris [Martin]. This 'conscious uncoupling' that everyone was sort of making fun of, I got to see it firsthand. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever witnessed two human beings go through,” Meyer began, referring to Paltrow and the Coldplay frontman's way of amicably separating after over a decade of marriage.

“She was so loving and kind and open to him and she created this family. I watched her do this, and I was like, wow. That's not what I was taught growing up. I was taught that divorce is ugly.”

Paltrow and Martin, who finalized their divorce in 2015 after over a decade of marriage, share daughter Apple, 20, and son Moses, 18.

Paltrow introduced Meyer to Dr. Habib Sadeghi, who actually led the Goop founder to the "conscious uncoupling" lifestyle.

“She didn't tell me her process. She just said, I have someone for you to meet with. Good luck, basically. I think you gotta give people their own process,” Meyer explained.

Watching Paltrow and Martin live separate lives, but have the strength to come together as a family unit is what inspired Meyer, who co-parents daughter Ruby, 17, and son Otis, 15, with Maguire.

“I just witnessed their beautiful breakup, and I was like, you guys are an example for every couple who is breaking up," Meyer said.

Meyer and Maguire wed in September 2007 and first separated in 2016 until their marriage was officially over four years later. However, there's no bad blood between the exes.

“I literally have the best ex-husband in the world, and I hit the jackpot,” Meyer said of Maguire, even going as far as calling him her “best friend.”

“I honestly don't know what I would do without him in my life. I ride for him so hard,” she said, adding that Maguire and her current boyfriend are “close.”

Recently, Mayer showed her support for Maguire as rumors about him and 20-year-old social media influencer Lily Chee began to swirl after they were photographed together at Michael Rubin’s White Party on July 4.

She allegedly came to his defense during two heated Instagram exchanges. "I am disengaging after this… But don’t believe everything you read (I’m sure you were taught that somewhere) Tobey is as good of a guy as it gets."
