Why Lala Kent Has Yet to Reveal Her Newborn's Name: "Baby S Deserves Her Moment"

Lala Kent wasn’t quite ready to reveal her newborn’s name. Why? Because she didn’t want Beyoncé to overshadow the news.

The Vanderpump Rules mom explained her decision in the latest broadcast of Give Them Lala. The pre-recorded episode premiered on Wednesday, September 4, just a day after Lala had welcomed baby No. 2.

While recording the podcast with her brother, Easton Burningham, and assistant, Jessica Walter, Lala pointed out that her second daughter would’ve been born by the time the episode aired, as her due date was set for September 1; however, the former SUR host refused to reveal her baby girl’s name during the broadcast because it would premiere on Beyoncé’s special day.

“Do you think you’ll have announced the name by now?” Jessica asked.

“No,” Lala said without hesitation. “Today’s Beyoncé’s birthday. It’s her day. We can’t announce today. You just can’t. No one’s gonna give a sh-t. It’s Beyoncé’s birthday! I’m gonna wait… Baby S deserves her moment.”

Lala — who shares a 3-year-old daughter, Ocean Kent Emmett, with her ex-fiancé — has been teasing her baby’s name since early April. She confirmed that the child’s first initial would be “S,” but declined to provide any additional hints.

Although Lala had selected a name several months ago, the Utah native revealed her decision wasn't set in stone.

“All the names that I’ve been wanting have started with an S,” she said during the podcast. “So when people ask me, ‘Do you have a name?’ And I’m like, well, if they follow me at all, they’re gonna know if I say ‘no.’ But I don’t lie because all the names [I’m considering] start with an S. So I’m really lucky. I’m just gonna look at her and that’s what I’ll name her.”

How does Lala plan to announce her newborn's legal name?

So when can we expect to learn Baby S’s legal name? It’s anyone’s guess at this point. Lala spoke about the announcement in a recent interview with Mini magazine, saying she had several ideas for the big reveal.

“I think that’s what I’m super excited about,” Lala said. “No one’s guessed [her name]. That’s the best part about it. And it’s, like, how do I reveal it? Do I post a picture of the baby with the name? Or do I reveal the name after I’ve finished breastfeeding and I get the [name] tattooed? There are so many ways.”
