Why Marvel Fans Think Moon Knight Season 2 Has Been Canceled
MCU fans have long waited for a Moon Knight Season 2 but haven’t received any solid updates on its development and release. Premiered in 2022, the Disney Plus series stars Oscar Isaac in the dual lead role of Steven Grant and his alter-ego Marc Spector. Season 1 was released over two years ago, making fans curious about Season 2 and if it is canceled, delayed, or renewed.
Here are the details about Moon Knight Season 2.
Has Marvel & Disney canceled or delayed Moon Knight Season 2?
Marvel Studios and Disney haven’t confirmed anything about Moon Knight Season 2, so it neither stands canceled nor delayed.
Director Mohamed Diab previously revealed in a conversation with Arabic Marvel that Marvel had a limited series plan for Moon Knight, dampening the hopes for a renewal. He added that Marvel plans the future of the series beforehand, regardless of whether the current seasons succeed or not. “Marvel’s way is not the usual way where if the project succeeds, I say let’s renew it for a second season. It’s their plan, successful or not, they have a plan.” (via Cosmic Circus)
Moon Knight had impressively become a beloved character with the series receiving critical acclaim for its storytelling and visually appealing sequences. However, it remains uncertain if Marvel had any renewal plans on its radar. Previously, even Isaac opened up about a Season 2 in an interview with Collider. He had no idea about the potential season and said, “There’s no official word.”
Nevertheless, fans will have to wait for the studios to announce the series’ fate.
Could Marvel renew Moon Knight for Season 2?
There are chances of Moon Knight Season 2 renewal, following its massive popularity. However, Marvel Studios has yet to give an official word on it.
Moon Knight Season 1 concluded in May 2022, teasing Jake Lockley, the third persona of Marc Spector in the post-credit scene. This tease could possibly set up a Season 2, delving into Khonshu’s new avatar and carrying forward Layla El-Faouly as Scarlet Scarab story too. And despite the two-year wait, Marvel hasn’t officially canceled the series. So, while the second season’s chances appear slim, it can still happen.
Additionally, Isaac’s character is all set to make its animated debut in What If….? Season 3. Further, fans expect to see the character joining the Avengers roster in Doomsday and Secret Wars as well. Even showrunner Jeremy Slater revealed in an interview that if he had decision-making powers, Moon Knight would have been a part of the Avengers.
However, Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios would ultimately decide the fate of Moon Knight in the MCU. Now, whether the show gets a Season 2 remains to be seen.
