Why Queens of the Stone Age won't be headlining the Mempho Music Festival in Memphis anymore

The band Queens of the Stone Age recently announced a series of concert cancellations, and a Memphis show was on the list.

An announcement on Instagram showed the group would cancel shows through the rest of the year after an emergency surgery for lead singer Josh Homme. While some shows will be rescheduled for 2025, the group's show at Mempho Music Festival was not on the list for rescheduled shows.

Here's what to know about the cancellation and the lead singer's health.

Why did Queens of the Stone Age cancel shows?

The band announced a series of show cancellations to give the lead singer, Josh Homme, time to recover from a recent emergency surgery.

"Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and to receive essential medical through the remainder of the year," a post on Instagram said.

The Memphis appearance was part of the Mempho Music Festival. QOTSA was set to headline on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Josh Homme, the lead singer for QOTSA, was diagnosed with cancer in 2022. At the time, it was said that he had recovered after surgery. It is unclear if the recent emergency surgery is related as no specifics have been announced.
