Why Savannah Guthrie Is Missing From 'Today'
Fans were concerned when they tuned in to Today on Tuesday, Aug. 13, and Wednesday, Aug. 14, to find Savannah Guthrie missing from her usual spot, but thankfully, there's no reason to be concerned.
Guthrie took some days off from her job to celebrate someone really special in her life: her daughter, Vale. Craig Melvin reportedly stepped in for Guthrie at Hoda Kotb's side on the morning show, with Kotb mentioning Guthrie's absence and noting that she had some "well deserved" time off.
Vale celebrated her 10th birthday on Aug. 13, with Guthrie paying tribute to her little girl on Instagram. She shared a bunch of photos of her daughter along with the message, "Ten years of this magical girl - my whole heart and soul. Happy birthday dearest Vale!"
Fans also shared congratulations and well wishes for the birthday girl, with notes in the comments like, "10!!! It’s giving aura! HBD Vale ?," and, "HBD ?? ???????????? Sweet girl! We love ?? watching you grow and be you!"
Coincidentally, fellow Today star Jenna Bush Hager's daughter Poppy has a birthday on the same day, turning 9 years old in 2024.
Neither Guthrie nor Today shared when fans can expect Guthrie back on screens, but hopefully, she's having an enjoyable time with her family at home.
Right before this, Guthrie was in Paris, France, along with Kotb, Melvin and Al Roker, to report on the 2024 Olympics between July 26 and Aug. 11. Taking advantage of the special time in Europe, Guthrie's husband, Michael Feldman, along with Vale and their son Charley, joined her there to explore the beautiful city and take in some Olympic sports, even getting to meet Simone Biles.
Guthrie documented the quality time with her family in photos and videos that she shared on social media, declaring that the trip was "too wonderful for words…thank you, Paris and @nbcolympics."
Fans eager to see Guthrie back on Today will have to keep tuning in to see when she returns.
