Everyone knew it was coming, but safe to say, the latest episode of The Boys was shocking for more than one reason. Emulating Westworld's now-infamous orgy scene, The Boys' 'Herogasm' was just as raunchy as its name suggested. From flying sex toys to the return of Love Sausage, there was a lot to unpack. Some fans looking closely think they spotted an Earth-shattering reveal of who Homelander's parents could be.

Although most of the characters in The Boys have questionable morals, Antony Starr's Homelander is unarguably the big bad of the series. The knock-off Superman has butted heads with almost everyone in season three, and although it's undoubtedly going to come to a head, the blond-haired, blue-eyed leader of The Seven isn't down yet.

Much like Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic series of the same name, The Boys has largely kept Homelander's origins a secret. But now, the wild theory claims he's the offspring of Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash).

During 'Herogasm', Billy Butcher recruited Soldier Boy to the cause and tried to maneuver the defrosted Supe to kill Homelander. Storming the house of the TNT Twins to get "payback" on the Payback team that served him up to the Russians, Soldier Boy prepared to unleash hell on all those inside.

The Herogasm annual orgy is something of a big deal in the Supe world, but as it turns out, it was originally founded in 1952 by Soldier Boy and Liberty–with him branding her a "firecracker". For those who don't know, Liberty was the original name of Stormfront, who went into hiding and rebranded herself after her Nazi affiliations were exposed.

The question of Homelander's parentage has come up a lot, and in season two, there was a long-running theory that Stormfront was his mother. This harks back to the comics, where the DNA of Stormfront (who was male there) was used to create Homelander.

It's clear that Soldier Boy and Stormfront had sex, so it's not outside the realms of possibility that they're Homelander's parents. From what little we've seen, Homelander was raised by Jonah Vogelbaum in a Vought lab and trained with his laser vision from a young age.

The comics had his mother die in childbirth, but similar to how we've seen Starlight's life with her mother before The Seven, it's logical that Homelander has biological parents who could come into the story.

In the comics, Soldier Boy was introduced in 2009's 'Herogasm' miniseries – the character is a parody of Captain America and even has his signature shield. The Boys follows some of this, with Soldier Boy being more of a Winter Soldier after being experimented on and frozen, however, it cuts a major 'Herogasm' scene where he slept with Homelander to get a place on The Seven.

The series has revamped the character into an even more powerful alpha type, as Soldier Boy is effectively the world's Homelander before Homelander was even around. The dastardly duo are seemingly evenly matched in terms of power, but is this because Homelander is actually Soldier Boy's son?

Then again, having Homelander as the secret son of Soldier Boy and Stormfront would also be a major departure from the comics. While Vought gave Homelander a Superman-esque origin where he landed on Earth as a superpowered baby, he was actually raised in a lab and chained to a nuclear bomb for fears he'd annihilate his captors.

Also going against the theory, Stormfront is dead, so it might be odd to bring her character arc back. The bed-bound Nazi made a surprise appearance in season three but was quickly killed off. Despite Stormchasers thinking she's still alive because she died off-screen, most have accepted that the character is done.

We briefly got to see Soldier Boy and Homelander duke it out in 'Herogasm', but with the latter being able to take on Soldier Boy and a V24-jacked Butcher and Hughie, it's clear he's not a Supe to be messed with. If Homelander is the wayward son of Soldier Boy and Stormfront, it adds another level of bleaaargh due to the fact Homelander and Stormfront had a sexual relationship.

The Boys is known for tackling uncomfortable issues, and to be honest, an incestuous relationship wouldn't be out of the ordinary. Even though it remains to be seen whether Soldier Boy will be sticking around for season four, there could be a neat "No, I am your father" moment during his inevitable showdown with Homelander. Either way, it turns out there's someone just as deplorable as Homelander out there. Like father, like son.

The Boys seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch in full on Amazon Prime Video. Season 3 airs weekly every Friday.
