(WJW) – Fans of music legend Willie Nelson are continuing to await an update after an unspecified illness forced the 91-year-old to sit out the first few shows of the “Outlaw Music Festival Tour,” including Wednesday.
Just hours before the first night of the tour kicked off in Alpharetta, Georgia on Friday, June 21, an announcement was posted on social media that Nelson wouldn’t be able to perform.
List: Summer festivals, concerts, and more
“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” the statement read. “He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”
Willie’s son, Lukas Nelson, and the Family Band would perform in his absence, read the statement.
Since then, Nelson has missed additional performances scheduled for June 22 and 23 in North Carolina and on June 26 in Virginia Beach.
“We expect Willie to return to the tour shortly,” a statement on his Facebook page said Wednesday. In the meantime, the show is going on with Bob Dylan and Alison Krauss and Robert Plant.

“Hang in there and get well Willie. None of us are ready to roll you up yet,” wrote one fan on X.
The next tour performance is scheduled for June 26 in Virginia Beach.
