'Wizards of Waverly Place' star David Henrie apologizes after getting arrested for carrying a loaded handgun at LAX
Former Disney Channel star David Henrie had some turbulence before he could even attempt to board his flight out of LAX on Monday: He was arrested for carrying a loaded handgun.
The 29-year-old actor — best known for playing Selena Gomez‘s big brother on Wizards of Waverly Place — was arrested for possession of a loaded handgun at Terminal 2 of Los Angeles International Airport at 9:05 a.m., Los Angeles Airport Police Division tells Yahoo Entertainment. He was booked into the LAPD Pacific Division Jail and released on his own recognizance.
Henrie, who was going through a TSA screening when agents found the weapon, apologized saying he’s “humiliated and embarrassed.”
Days ago, the actor was celebrating the gender reveal of the baby he’s expecting with his wife of a year, former Miss Delaware Maria Cahill. Henrie, a California native, shared footage of them being showered with pink glitter and confetti from a balloon. Then, because they’re expecting a girl, he went on to write, “Where’s my shotgun? I don’t have a shotgun. Someone get me a shotgun!”
Henrie has had several roles since Wizards, including in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 and Grownups 2. He’s also been working on his own indie film, The Is The Year, in which Gregg Sulkin will star.
Henrie has remained close to Gomez since their show ended with the two reuniting over the summer at a July 4 bash. She captioned one photo of them together “brudder & sissy.” In another post, she called him family.
