A case could me made that Jason Sudeikis is the biggest non-athlete fan of women’s basketball. Although he’s been spotted in arenas all over the country, the beloved actor is a fixture courtside for New York Liberty games.
On Thursday, sitting in the best seats in the house, Sudeikis got to see WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu of the Liberty win in a pair of sneakers he designed.
During the New York Liberty’s 77-70 win over the Seattle Storm, Ionescu had her Nike Sabrina 2 signature shoe laced up. This specific look, designed by Sudeikis — with help from his daughter, Daisy — was dressed in several different hues, including pink, purple, white, gold and the Liberty’s signature seafoam. The shoe also featured the number 20 on the left heel and 24 on the right, as well as “Daze” etched into the midsole, the latter seemingly being a nod to Daisy.
In terms of tech, Nike designed the Sabrina 2 with plush Cushlon 3.0 foam midsoles that are contained within a firmer Cushlon foam carrier, as well as a Nike Zoom Air unit in the forefoot for energy return and responsiveness. Also, there are rubber outsoles underfoot with a new “S”-inspired herringbone pattern for multidirectional traction.
Consumers can shop Sudeikis’ take on the Sabrina 2 now via Nike by You, the brand’s sneaker customization platform. The shoe retails for $160.
