Women’s-Exclusive Style of Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan 12 Will Be Released This Holiday Season

Although it may not currently be at the top of the trend cycle, the Air Jordan 12 is the sort of sneaker that never really goes out of style. Case in point is the late September release of “Barons” colorway, which has already sold out from most doors. And before the year’s end, Michael Jordan’s twelfth signature model is expected to see two new-yet-familiar looks.
The latest late-2024 Air Jordan 12 Retro release to surface is a women’s-exclusive “Phantom” colorway. Coming in “Phantom/Metallic Gold/White,” the look is predominantly light gray and uses what appears to be a nubuck material on the upper. Metallic gold accents fill in the upper eyelets and Jumpman branding overlay.
On social media, some users are comparing the style to Drake’s OVO x Air Jordan 12 from 2016. The OVO collaboration came in “White/Metallic Gold/White” and featured color blocking similar to the upcoming “Phantom” release. Notably, the OVO iteration used a stingray-textured material on its mudguard in place of the model’s traditional faux-reptile overlay.
Jordan wore the Air Jordan 12 throughout the 1996-97 NBA season, one which culminated with the Chicago Bulls’ second straight championship win. Playing alongside a team which included Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman, Jordan would wear “Taxi,” “Cherry,” “Flu Game” and “Playoffs” colorways on the court.
Also on the horizon for the Air Jordan 12 before the end of ’24 is a “Blueberry” colorway which mimics the sneaker’s original “Cherry” look. And looking ahead, 2025 is expected to bring original colorways including the aforementioned “Taxi” and “Flu Game” pairs worn by Jordan along with more recent iterations such as the “Melo” PE and a new version of the “French Blue” style once worn by Kobe Bryant.
As of publishing, the Air Jordan 12 Retro “Phantom” is slated to be released on Dec. 2 for a retail price of $200. The women’s-exclusive makeup has a SKU of FD9101-007 and will be available from Nike’s SNKRS app and select Jordan Brand retailers.
