Women In Media to Honor Julia Roberts, ‘Orange is the New Black’ at Annual Gracies Awards
Continuing its tradition of honoring women — and men — who have made a positive impact on the media landscape over the year, the Alliance for Women In Media Foundation has released its annual list of names to be feted at its 40th Anniversary Gracies Awards. This year’s honorees include Julia Roberts and Olivia Munn for their work in “The Normal Heart” and “The Newsroom,” respectively, and “Mom’s” Sadie Calvano, who is being singled out as an outstanding female rising star. Cicely Tyson will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award because the Foundation feels she has given “a voice to women in film and television for more than 60 years.” “Orange is the New Black” will receive the outstanding TV comedy series honor while “Gotham” will receive the outstanding TV drama honor.
“Though we receive hundreds of submissions from all over the country every year, it never ceases to amaze us of all the great work that has been done to further highlight women in media. We are thrilled to honor such smart, thoughtful and inspirational individuals, organizations and programming this year,” said Kristen Welch, AWMF chair.
AWMF, which supports educational programs, charitable activities, public service and scholarship campaigns that benefit women in media, will hold this year’s ceremony on May 19 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Below is the full list of honorees.
