Wscripted Unveils 2024 Vanessa Kirby-Curated Cannes Screenplay List Supporting Women & Non-Binary Writers
EXCLUSIVE: Wscripted has unveiled the projects and talents selected for its fourth Cannes Screenplay List supporting scripts by women and non-binary writers.
This year’s list, which is presented in collaboration with long-standing partner Mubi, was curated by an international jury featuring Bafta-winning and Oscar-nominated actress Vanessa Kirby (The Crown, Pieces of a Woman), Costa Rican-Swedish director Nathalie álvarez Mesén (Clara Sola) and writer and filmmaker Nathalie Marchak (Out of Instinct, @Catcall).

Marchak was a nominee on the inaugural Cannes Screenplay List of 2021 with her second feature A Beautiful Journey, which is produced by Anonymous Federation and Gabman Films.
The 2024 list features 10 female filmmakers and screenwriters looking for producing and financing partners from the U.S., Canada, Australia and India.
They include Nominees include Cuban-American filmmaker Marissa Chibás, a 2022 Sundance Screenwriting Fellow who received the inaugural Sundance/Gold House Accelerator Grant, for her immigrant family drama 1972; Indigenous Australian filmmaker and three-time Australian Director’s Guild Award nominee Darlene Johnson for her historical drama Obelia; and American actress and writer Christine Garver for her biographical script on pioneering photographer Sonya Noskowiak, The Pepper, which won her the Chinonye Chukwu Emerging Writer Award at the Athena Film Festival. In addition to pitching the list to producers during the Cannes Film Market, the 2024 selection was also highlighted at the first edition of the Produced by Visionaries event, co-presented by Forbes, Wscripted and start-up Callo.
Global streaming platform, production company, and distributor Mubi has been championing female filmmakers since its inception and has worked as a presenting partner of the Wscripted’s Cannes Screenplay List since 2022.
