WWE announces historic ladies-only pay-per-view event
Stephanie McMahon made a major announcement to kick off Monday’s WWE Raw. She was joined by her husband, Triple H, and her father, Vince McMahon, as well as the entire Raw locker room. But let’s be honest, the night was all about the ladies.
“On Oct. 28th, over 50 women then, now, and forever will participate in an event called ‘Evolution,’” Stephanie said. “That event, I’m privileged to announce, will be the first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view.”
The WWE’s biggest women’s star, newcomer Ronda Rousey, was not present at the announcement, as her current storyline includes a suspension from Raw. But she’ll be at “Evolution” and expressed her excitement on Twitter:
It has been such an honor to be a part of this women’s division for the last few months. These women have all taught me so much and I couldn’t be prouder to call myself a @WWE Superstar. I’m ready for #Evolution.

The pay-per-view, which will include the Raw and Smackdown Live women’s championships among other main events, was a long time in the making, according to Stephanie. She credited the fans for their grassroots efforts, including starting #GiveDivasAChance, which trended worldwide for three days in 2015. Stephanie said it ignited a “revolution” across the industry.
WWE Raw airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on USA.
