WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan Officially Announces Retirement on ‘RAW’
On Monday Night RAW, Daniel Bryan formally announced his retirement from the world of professional wrestling. The WWE superstar first made his decision public on Twitter, but provided further elaboration to a sold-out Key Arena, in Seattle. “The truth is, I’ve been wrestling since I was 18 years old, and within the first five months of my wrestling career, I’d already had three concussions,” explained Bryan, who has since incurred many more concussions. After a recent medical examination, he said, “I took a test and maybe my brain isn’t as good as I thought it was.”
Daniel’s path to the WWE is a true underdog story. The 5-foot-8, 190 pound Bryan was a World Heavyweight Champion and gained popularity through his positive “Yes” chant and pure wrestling performance. Born and raised in Aberdeen, Wash., Bryan considers Seattle to be his hometown crowd, making it all the more poetic to end his career there. An emotional Bryan thanked the fans and the WWE for all of their support. Before he left the ring for good, Bryan’s fans chanted “Yes” one final time.
