X-Men's Anna Paquin replaced by American Gods' Emily Browning in new movie
American Gods actress Emily Browning has stepped in to replace X-Men's Anna Paquin for the upcoming drama Monica.
Now shooting in Ohio, this movie is being directed by Italian filmmaker Andrea Pallaoro, while Trace Lysette (Hustlers) co-stars alongside Oscar nominees Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) and Adriana Barraza (Babel).
Deadline reports that Paquin – an Oscar winner herself in 1993 – was unavailable due to scheduling conflicts.

Monica charts the story of a transgender woman (portrayed by Lysette) who returns home to care for her dying mother (Clarkson).
Executive producer Steve Stanulis said: "We are very excited to be part of this project that just got started filming. Everyone at Stanulis Films truly believes in the topic, the awareness and the timing of the script.
"All the people attached to it are incredible."

Elsewhere, Paquin previously reflected on her time playing Sookie Stackhouse in HBO's fanged drama True Blood.
"True Blood was extraordinary and amazing in a lot of ways, but Sookie was, in a lot of ways, a very stereotypical female heroine," she told Digital Spy. "She continued to make dumb mistakes in order to have to be saved by big strong boys.
"That show was one of the greatest professional experiences of my entire life and I'm very grateful, but as far as pushing a feminist agenda? Not so much."
