The xx cover Wham!'s Last Christmas

When you think of Wham!, many things come to mind: the 1980’s, synthesizers, pre-irony nylon windbreakers, Zoolander, George Michael’s hair. Noticeably absent on that list are “being cool” and “material that is ripe for reinterpretation,” which renders the xx’s decision to cover “Last Christmas” somewhat peculiar.
