Young & Restless Cast Gets Deliciously Competitive Backstage
We as viewers don’t often get to see what goes on behind the scenes but recently, The Young and the Restless’ Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) shared a video that gave us just that. And with the holidays right around the corner, what better time than now to have a bakeoff?!
The video started out with Stafford getting ready at home, “like a winner,” while letting everyone know that her soap was having a competition and that she fixed the problem she had when making a pie. “I accidently put in too much salt,” she admitted then panned the camera to the pie, took a bite and stated, “Even though I screwed it up, it’s still good.”

In the next frame, Stafford arrived at the studio and viewers were able to see all of the goodies on display for the contest as she asked the CBS soap’s publicist, Matt Kane, about the judges. He assured her he wasn’t one of them then Christian LeBlanc (Michael) appeared and relayed, “The ice cream is amazing.”

Though Stafford refused to reveal which dish was hers, the soap’s head writer and executive producer, Josh Griffith, tried to guess, to which Stafford only replied, “That’s a great choice.” Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe), Courtney Hope (Sally) and Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) assured that they weren’t judges and after a couple of taste tastes, everyone sat down as the winners were announced.
Stafford, seated next to Leblanc, tried to “stay calm” as runners up were named… then the winner was announced — and Stafford won! The actress cheered along with the crowd and ended the video with the words “bang, winner, winner” on the screen.
Congrats to Stafford and all of the stars that contributed to the backstage fun!
