It’s been a long and winding road to the altar for Young Sheldon's George and Mandy, but the pair are finally getting hitched!

In PEOPLE's exclusive first look of the happy moment, the beloved characters say "I do" surrounded by family during this week’s episode, entitled “A Proper Wedding and Skeletons in the Closet.”

In the shot, George (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) hold hands as they stare lovingly into each other's eyes. The rest of their family watches on as they gather for the intimate ceremony in what appears to be a room in a courthouse.

George and Mandy met for the first time in season 5 at Medford Wash, the laundromat owned by Meemaw (Annie Potts), who later catches them ordering cocktails at a restaurant when George really should be working (and sober.)

“He is such a responsible young man,” muses Meemaw.

The two sleep together, both under the mistaken assumption that George is 21, when he’s just 17, and Mandy is 25 when she’s actually 29. Things get even more complicated once Mandy reveals to George she’s pregnant, eventually giving birth to their daughter Constance in season 6.

“She’s here. She’s tiny and perfect,” George tells their families once Mandy delivers in the hospital.

George and Mandy eventually have a heart-to-heart conversation about marriage later in season 6, during which Mandy gently tells George, “You think I’m not all in, but I am."

The couple’s story won’t end once Young Sheldon wraps its seventh and final season on May 16. In early March, CBS announced Jordan, 21, and Osment, 32, will reprise their roles in a new half-hour spinoff series produced by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Hollan that will chronicle George and Mandy raising their young family in Texas “while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage.”

An enthusiastic Jordan shared the news on Instagram that same day.

“GET READY!!!! The Cooper family continues,” he wrote in the caption. “Thank y’all for the support of Young Sheldon. I hope to deliver just what y’all are looking for in this new adventure!”

Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, called the upcoming show the continuation of a "wonderful journey."

"It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy,” she said. “Chuck and both Steves have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories brought to life by Montana and Emily. We eagerly look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe."
