Public Morals: Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 10 p.m. on TNT
Writer/director Edward Burns ventures into Mad Men territory with a procedural twist, following a pair of ‘60s-era detectives (played by Burns and fellow Noo Yawk native Michael Rapaport) who protect and serve the city as part of the NYPD vice squad.

Mr. Robot: Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 10 p.m. on USA
The first-season curtain falls on USA’s superb hacker drama; expect lots of Kubrickian imagery, unexpected plot developments, and computer malfeasance to tide fans over until next summer.

Narcos: Friday, Aug. 28 on Netflix
Paging Vincent Chase… the fictional Entourage star’s dream project — a biopic of Colombian drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar — becomes a 10-episode Netflix series, starring Wagner Moura as Escobar and directed by acclaimed Brazilian director, José Padilha.

Hannibal: Saturday, Aug. 29 at 10 p.m. on NBC
Barring a last minute reprieve, Bryan Fuller’s masterfully macabre take on the cannibal psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter wraps up its three-season run having reached the Red Dragon stage of Lecter’s career. Hannibal came in like a lion — will some bold network make sure it’s able to go out with the Lambs?

MTV Video Music Awards: Sunday, Aug. 30 at 9 p.m. on MTV
Band-aids don’t fix bullet holes, but winning a Moonman or two might fix Taylor Swift’s rep after a few Twitter dust-ups. Miley Cyrus hosts MTV’s annual celebration of the medium it was created to honor, while Nick Jonas, Walk the Moon, and The Weeknd will take the stage to perform in between awards and acceptance speeches.
