Zachary Quinto Shares Hilarious Instagram Poking Fun at Trump
Laughter is the best medicine — and Zachary Quinto is clearly feeling sickened by Trump‘s recent ascendancy to the presidency. Rather than post semimilitant shirtless selfies in protest (ICYMI: Chris Meloni took that approach), Quinto shared a hilarious video featuring Trump, Melania Trump, and the Obamas (plus sparkling cameos by Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and George W. Bush).
“If we cannot laugh, we have already lost,” the Star Trek star explained.
also if we cannot laugh we have already lost.

The video — which is artfully dubbed — begins with Melania hugging Michelle Obama and then handing her the infamous Tiffany box. “Surprise,” Melania begins. “I have some pretzels for you.” It then cuts to the incoming and outgoing presidents greeting each other. “You’re cheery,” Trump quips before asking Obama, “When can I see you walk away?” Obama tells Trump, “You su-uck!” as they smile and wave to the cameras.
Later, while shaking hands in a receiving line, Trump tells people, “I’m important” and “You want to be me.” Then he tells Pelosi she has “quite a figure.” During the actual inauguration ceremony, Michelle shakes former President Bush’s hand and asks, “Are you wearing a big boy shirt?” He replies, “Yeah. I probably never will again.”
This is comedy gold, people — which is probably why celebs like Jessica Chastain, Busy Philipps, Jenny Slate, and Poppy Montgomery reposted it soon after it went up. (It also received 122 retweets on Twitter.)
“***THANK YOU @zacharyquinto, this made me laugh like 15 times today. And I needed it,” Philipps wrote beside the video on her Instagram feed. Chastain shared it along with a “laughing so hard I’m crying” emoji (as many other viewers have done).
But Quinto isn’t the first celeb to poke fun at the new commander-in-chief. Jamie Foxx has been on a roll mocking Trump. “#backonmyfunnysh** #shegottaknow #letthejokesbegin back on stage this summer… #standup #oooouuu,” he wrote beside a pic of Melania giving Michelle that Tiffany box (the one Quinto’s video said was full of pretzels). In this version, there are no salty treats inside, but rather a note reading: “Help.”

He also reposted a video from George Lopez that showed a Secret Service man looking less than enthused during the inauguration. “Hahaha the secret service is like phuck! … 4 years of this. ???????????????? he might be bad for the country … but it’s great for comedians!!!! Let the jokes begin!!! #backonmyfunnysh** @georgelopez you are a legend,” he noted.

He did explain, however, that he was only dishing out what he thought the president could take. “The reason I do jokes about him cause I know he can take it on the chins! #letthejokesbegin #backonmyfunnysh** #comic voodoo stand up stage in the clubs this summer! #wegotsh**totalkabout,” he wrote.

It’s unclear whether the president can actually take it, though. During an interview with Sean Hannity on Thursday night, Trump took aim at Alec Baldwin and Madonna, saying Baldwin is “terrible” on Saturday Night Live (where the actor does an impression of Trump) and calling Madonna “disgusting” (after she said she’d thought about blowing up the White House during a speech at the Women’s March on Saturday).
But while celebs are certainly not being shy about their feelings about the new president, the jury’s out on whether they are actually helping or hurting their cause. With a few exceptions, stars avidly and uniformly endorsed and campaigned for Hillary Clinton … and, well, here we are. But whether you love or hate Trump, it’s pretty hard to watch Quinto’s video without cracking a smile, which might be the closest thing to common ground yet.
