Zendaya, Stray Kids and Anna Wintour Drove Social Media Buzz During Monday’s Met Gala
Monday night’s Met Gala provided plenty of social media buzzworthy moments for both brands and celebrities.
The most mentioned keywords and phrases used on social media throughout the red carpet event were, in order, Zendaya, Straykids, #Metgala, Anna Wintour and Tommy Hilfiger, according to Dash Hudson, a social media management platform that works with brands.

Dash Hudson leveraged its AI-powered Social Listening tool to identify the top five posts from the red carpet, which collectively generated more than 22 million engagements across Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
First place was Stray Kids (guests of Tommy Hilfiger), with 757,000 engagements. In second place was Zendaya, with 449,000 engagements, and third place was Gigi Hadid, with 370,000 engagements. Fourth place was Sarah Jessica Parker with 348,000 engagements, and fifth place were Dove Cameron and Damiano David, with 347,000 engagements.
Dash Hudson also leveraged its AI-powered Social Listening tool to determine which guests generated the most conversation online. They were in order, Chris Hemsworth, with 1.5 million engagements; Anna Wintour, with 1 million engagements, Zendaya, with 836,700 engagements, Dove Cameron, with 448,500 engagements, and Stray Kids, with 406,800 engagement
During the Met Gala’s red carpet, the top five designers performed significantly higher than the fashion and luxury benchmark average of 0.13 percent, reaffirming the engagement associated with the Met Gala, Dash Hudson said.
The engagement rate is calculated by likes and comments divided by followers. This metric provides insight into how much an audience interacted with a piece of content, rather than simply viewing it.
The top five designers during the red carpet event, based on engagement rate, were:
Tommy Hilfiger, with an engagement rate of 0.63 percent, 384 percent higher than the fashion and industry benchmark average.
Vivienne Westwood, with an engagement rate of 0.49 percent, 276 percent higher than the benchmark average.
Schiaparelli, with an engagement rate of 0.39 percent, 200 percent higher than the benchmark average.
David Yurman, with an engagement rate of 0.24 percent, 85 percent higher than the benchmark average.
Jacob & Co., with an engagement rate of 0.20 percent, 54 percent higher than the benchmark average.
