The conspiracy thriller is co-created and executive produced by Eric Newman (“Narcos: Mexico”), Noah Oppenheim (“TODAY”), and Michael S. All six episodes of “Zero Day” are directed by Lesli Linka Glatter (“Homeland”), who also serves as an executive producer.

The plot centers around De Niro’s character, a respected former U.S. President named George Mullen, who now works as the head of the Zero Day Commission. The ex-POTUS is tasked with locating the perpetrators of a devastating cyber attack that resulted in thousands of deaths in the United States.

Per Netflix: “Disinformation runs rampant and the personal ambitions of power brokers in technology, Wall Street, and government collide. Mullen’s unwavering search for the truth forces him to confront his own dark secrets while risking all he holds dear. ‘Zero Day’ asks the question on everyone’s mind — how do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how many of those forces are of our own making — maybe even our own imagining?”

Speaking about the lead actor and executive producer, Newman said, “[De Niro] very much became our partner in this process — very hands-on, very involved, read everything at every stage, and it’s been an incredible honor and privilege. You can count on one hand the actors and actresses in history who bring this level of gravitas, pedigree, and talent to their work.”

Netflix will release all six hour-long episodes of “Zero Day” on Feb. 20, 2025.
