Zo? Kravitz says Channing Tatum was her 'protector' while filming her directorial debut
For Zo? Kravitz and Channing Tatum, mixing business with pleasure is ideal.
In an interview with GQ published Tuesday, Kravitz opened up about her relationship with Tatum, whom she met on the set of her upcoming directorial debut “Pussy Island.”
"He makes me laugh, and we both really love art and talking about art and the exploration of why we do what we do," Kravitz told the outlet. "We love to watch a film and break it down and talk about it and challenge each other."
In “Pussy Island,” Tatum stars as Slater King, “a nefarious tech billionaire” who owns a “hedonistic private island.” The thriller is also set to feature performances from Geena Davis, Haley Joel Osment and Christian Slater.
Kravitz revealed Tatum also played a crucial role in helping her navigate the “frantic” filmmaking process.
"Whether it was making me tea or pouring me a drink or going to whip someone into shape or whatever — he really was my protector and it was really wonderful and sweet," Kravitz said. "I think if you can do something like that together, it's a good test. And we came out even stronger."

Tatum, who was married to actress Jenna Dewan from 2009-2019, gushed about Kravitz’s creative talent in an interview with USA TODAY in February.
“She's an incredible artist,” Tatum said of Kravitz. “She's one of the most intentional people that I've ever met in my life, and that goes with art (and) with the way she just moves through the world. She's going to be a great director.”
Kravitz, who was married to actor Karl Glusman from 2019 to 2021, previously told WSJ. Magazine that she’s “really grateful” her film brought Tatum into her life.
"When you make things with people it’s a very sacred space, and when you’re compatible with somebody creatively it often opens up other channels, because you’re kind of sharing all of yourself,” Kravitz said at the time.
On her marriage to Glusman, Kravitz told GQ that the experience prompted some meaningful self-reflection.
“I just learned to think about who I am and what I want,” Kravitz said. “You meet someone who’s amazing and wants to marry you, and there’s nothing wrong with that. If there’s nothing wrong, then why wouldn’t you do it?”
She added: “It’s a hard question to ask yourself: ‘Maybe I don’t want the thing that I’m supposed to want, a marriage, children, any of it. I don’t know if I want that at all.’ That’s an uncomfortable question, especially for a woman to ask herself.”
