50 Cent is making major real estate moves in Shreveport, LA.

G-Unit Studios

As AFROTECH? previously reported, the entrepreneur opened G-Unit Studios in the city, now the second-largest Black-owned studio behind Tyler Perry. The 985,000-square-foot property is being used ā€œto operate a production studio and/or activities and uses related to the promotion or development of the film, sound, light, movie, television, broadcasting, recording, and arts industries.ā€

ā€œFounding my own studio is the next step in my plan to expand G-Unit Film & Televisionā€™s output of premium, diverse content across all media and to provide more opportunities for artists, crew members and more jobs within the community,ā€ 50 Cent told KTAL-6 News.

Housing Project

50 Centā€™s plans for Shreveport also extend beyond his studio. He is rolling out a three-phase plan to transform the city through areas including housing.

ā€œWe start building houses, and we have an idea to go into communities and help low- to moderate-income families get mortgages,ā€ Orville Hall, G-Unitā€™s growth advisor, said per another KTAL-6 report.

Purchasing Vacant Property

Whatā€™s more, 50 Cent is furthering his interests, making multiple investments in properties that had been vacant.

ā€œThese properties that ā€™50 Centā€™ has purchased, some of them have been vacant for years. So weā€™re really excited about the potential that this opens to other properties that have been vacant in downtown or underutilized,ā€ said Downtown Development Authority Janie Landry, per KTAL-6.

Landry later mentioned, ā€œFor one thing, it shows the significance of downtown. It also shows to other potential investors the importance of downtown Shreveport. ā€¦I think overall it helps individuals that may be wanting to purchase a property in downtown Shreveport, that they can say to themselves ā€˜if Curtis Jackson wants to be in downtown Shreveport, then maybe I do too.'ā€

50 Cent has secured over 10 properties and now becomes the second-largest property owner in the cityā€™s downtown.
