Attorney Camille Vasquez, Who Worked on Johnny Depp Trial, Joins Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton

Camille Vasquez, one of the attorneys who worked for Johnny Depp during his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard, has joined the Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP Business Trial practice group. Also joining the practice are four other lawyers who worked on the trial: Leo Presiado, Andrew C. Crawford, Jessica N. Meyers and Samuel A. Moniz.

Vasquez and her team won over $10 million in compensatory damages on behalf of Depp in the suit. The attorney focuses her practice on brand reputation and defamation litigation, and previously worked as a legal analyst at NBC News.

All five attorneys were previously partners at Brown Rudnick, where Vasquez co-chaired the brand and reputation management group.

ā€œIn addition to the firmā€™s top-notch litigation practice, we were attracted to the firmā€™s global footprint, full-service platform and its culture of collaboration,ā€ Vasquez said of the teamā€™s transition. ā€œWe look forward to building on the firmā€™s already successful litigation capabilities and offering a deeper and wider bench to clients throughout the country.ā€

Vasquez and her team are currently handling brand reputation and defamation cases, including representing producers of musical film ā€œThe Debā€ in a suit filed against Rebel Wilson for defamation in L.A. Superior Court and representing singer Gloria Trevi in three separate litigations relating to abuse allegations, of which she was acquitted of in Mexico in 2004.

The team is also defending composer Danny Elfman, in a case where composer Nomi Abadi is suing Elfman for defamation stemming from a statement he made to Rolling Stone. His comment in the magazine was included in an investigative piece about a settlement he made with Abadi after she accused him of repeated sexual harassment and misconduct.
