“Launching and building Béis has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life, and I am honored to continue to lead this remarkable team and brand,” Johnson told WWD in an exclusive statement. “For me, this role transition is a great testament to where the business has grown and the strides we are taking to continue to lead the market as the on-the-go brand for everyone. I am honored to work alongside Shay and the growing team, who share in my passion to fulfill our company mission, lead with our strategic growth objectives, and continue to ensure strong financial performance.”
Offering luggage, bags and accessories, Béis was launched in 2018 with the help of incubator and venture company Beach House Group. Johnson, an executive with more than 20 years of experience, has been overseeing business strategy and growth at Béis, while Mitchell has driven marketing and creative. Last year, the company hit upward of $120 million in profitable gross revenue, while on track to break $200 million for the fiscal year.
“Her keen ability to identify market opportunity, create a strategic vision to capitalize on growth and build an infrastructure to scale quickly and responsibly is indicative in the unprecedented growth of Béis, now surpassing a quarter-billion dollars in less than five years,” notes the brand.
A graduate of Indiana University, with a MBA in business, Johnson has previously served in leadership roles at Target and Ameriprise Financial.
“I am beyond ecstatic to have Adeela as our CEO — she has been absolutely integral in shaping what Béis is today,” offered Mitchell. “As a creative and entrepreneur, we’re lucky to have someone who is not only empowering but fosters such an incredible work environment, it’s long overdue!”
