Back in February, Kanye West’s “Donda 2” had an atypical album rollout.

As previously reported by AfroTech, the rapper announced that his eleventh studio album wouldn’t be available on streaming platforms. West’s Stem Player is the only way for people to download and listen to it.

“Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube. Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own,” he said in a now-deleted Instagram post.

West has been vocal about his stance against the music industry, but now, he has been called out for committing a similar act of not paying up.

In an interview with VladTV, ATL Jacob claimed that he hasn’t been paid for his work on “Donda 2.”

  • “Pablo” featuring Future and Travis Scott

  • “Keep It Burning” featuring Future

  • “Louie Bags” featuring Jack Harlow

Following West’s decision against streaming platforms, the “Wait For U” producer and fellow collaborators were confused about how things would play out.

“Everybody was confused like, ‘How are we getting paid?’”

“He’ll upload the songs on the stem player and they [weren’t] even complete songs,” he added during the interview. “None of the songs was done. He was just uploading demos. Like raw demos.”

Recently, the device’s collaborator, Kano Computing’s Alex Klein, confirmed that “Donda 2” will remain on it despite his antisemitic controversy.

“There’s nothing on it that’s antisemitic,” Klein explained, according to Showbiz411.

Although Jacob says he hasn’t been paid, working on the album was a learning experience for him.

“I ain’t tripping though ‘cause I learned a lot just working on them,” he shared. “Creative-wise, I learned a lot. Even business too.”
