A Nutella Shortage Might Be Coming
By now, the word "shortage" may seem bit blasé. Think about all the shortages of the past year: the Velveeta shortage, sriracha shortage, avocado shortage, coffee shortage, and lime shortage. Who could tell, at first pass, what was overblown and what wasn't? What products you would miss, and what you would forget without a second thought?
Well, friends. There may be a Nutella shortage in our near future, no thanks to a frost in Turkey that devasted most of this year's hazelnut crop. It'll probably devastate you a little bit, too. Sure, you could always make your own Nutella with almonds or walnuts, or buy artisanal versions at the market. But other products, even those made with hazelnuts, just don't stack up to the real deal.
So here's to you, Nutella. You hazelnut-y, chocolatey minx. You stole our hearts, and our crepes and cookies and hot chocolate will never be the same again. Until next year, probably.
