This spectacular cake comes from the talented Alana Dimou, who lives in Sydney, AustraliaA combined love of sweet treats and an Egyptian-Cypriot upbringing are what inspire Dimou to create many of the recipes you’ll find on her blog, Alana Bread, where she also posts fun how-to sketches (case in point below) and photographs. That passion, food photography, started when Dimou was in college, and grew so strong that she even self-published a cookbook for her final digital media project. Talk about ambitious!

We can say the same about this many-layered cake. Dimou starts with two 9-inch layers of banana cake, sandwiching dulce de leche in between them. Then, she ices the outside with a bright yellow buttercream. And then there’s more buttercream: “Fondant never, buttercream forever” is Dimou’s cake philosophy, so no wonder her “ice cream” scoops are really made of frozen buttercream.

If you want to learn how to design your own banana split cake, check out Alana BreadDimou doesn’t shares recipes for this, but she does have an assembly guide that shows you how to bring this cake to life.
