The mastermind behind this drool-worthy creation is Tieghan Gerard, who’s been a blogger since she was 13. Gerard comes from a family of eight in Frisco, Colo., and is the proud cook amongst her brothers and sisters. She showcases a mix of healthy recipes, cozy comfort foods, and over-the-top cakes like the one pictured above on her blog Half Baked Harvest.
The blogger admits the dessert is high-maintenance: there are branches, caramel apples, salted caramel sauce, and chocolate ganache. But “getting carried away in chocolate is always a fun thing,” she says, and we couldn’t agree more.
The base is a chocolate spiced apple cake frosted with a Snickers-flavored icing. It’s then coated with salted caramel sauce and the chocolate ganache. To give the cake another dimension Gerard decorates the top with crushed peanuts and big branches of caramel apples. To make this show-stoping treat for your next Halloween bash, stop by Half Baked Harvest for the recipe and a step-by-step tutorial.
